Hi Scotty, I have a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 with 100,700 miles. A few months ago I installed new LED headlights. They are alpha Rex nova head lights and I did some reading on them before I bought them and they seemed like they were worth the money so I bought them. They came with a DRL wiring harness which I didn’t install until yesterday just because I needed one of my friends to help me who is better with electrical stuff than me. Long story short, the wiring harness goes to the battery, then plugs into each head light then taps into the ignition fuse. We followed all instructions and diagrams on alpha rex’s website on how to install this.
After we installed it, my check engine light came on, and I got the code read today at advanced auto parts and I was surprised that it came back with three different codes. The codes are P0650, P069E, P2534. So I did some reading on the severity of each code says stop driving immediately and have a mechanic look at it. But the truck runs and drives perfectly fine. Do you think I should do as those articles say and take it to a mechanic or do you think I’m okay to keep driving the truck?
Well I'd put the old lights back on the old wiring harness if I were you you never know how those things can feed back LEDs were completely different than incandescent bulbs
