Scotty,
I have a 2012 Acura MDX with 90k miles on it and it consumes a little more than a quart every 1k miles. I missed deadline for the recall so the dealer will not repair. How long can car last if I keep checking oil level? Is it safe to keep it running and consuming oil or will I eventually destroy engine? Dealer is asking 5k for repair. Thanks

It can run a long time as long as you add oil as needed, but of course the problem will get worse as the engine wears. It may help a little to change your PCV valve. (The manufacturer considers up to a quart per 1000 miles as "normal".)

Probably is the biggest concern is your cat eventually going bad due to the oil burning.
