Hello Everyone/Scotty,
I have a 2012 Highlander with the 4-cyl 2.7L engine, and the 6AT transmission . It has about 178k miles on it. Never had the trany fluid flushed or a drain and fill. At about 40-50 mph it will flutter or stutter. It will do that at other speeds, but it's mostly at around 45mph. Could it be something other than transmission? Will this just be an annoyance or is my trany going out?
Thanks for any help

Does it do it irrespective of the gear the transmission is in? Does the vehicle just hesitate & jerk or are you hearing any clunking sounds? Did you scan for any stored codes?
Thanks for your quick response, InThrustWeTrust.
It seems to be after a few shifts, not from a dead stop pr the first 3-4 gears. it's hard to tell. Does not jerk or there isn't any clunk. I don't have a scanner that will read trany codes. I'll scan it for other codes when I get the chance.
Thanks,

Does the tachometer bounce around when the car starts stuttering? Can you make a YouTube video of the symptoms & post the link here?
I'll do a video when I get the chance.
It seems to me, you’re describing a misfiring/hesitating issue -

It doesn't hesitate at all that I can tell. Doesn't seem to misfire. If's more of a quick vibration felt in the cabin that last less than two seconds.
So it’s a vibration felt in the steering wheel/cabin at 40-50mph? Can you tell if it’s originating from the wheels or the engine bay?
The tires were check out as 'ok' by a shop. Doesn't sound or feel like a tire problem Doesn't sound or feel like it's from the engine either. (Sorry it took so long to respond)
No worries, what did the shop diagnose it as?
