[Solved] Mixing Motor Oil

It’s 6 days until I leave for a road trip from PA to CA. I just got my Automatic 2.4L 2015 Jeep Patriot Latitude 4x4 serviced and just need to buy a little extra oil to keep with me just in case.

In the past, the car has been filled with Pennzoil 5w20 Synthetic Blend by the dealership (previous owner) but I’m on the fence about what oil I should keep as backup. I’ve read that mixing oils is relatively acceptable these days as long as you keep the viscosity the same so being at 110k miles would I want to go for the same oil or upgrade to the platinum/ultra platinum full synthetic or downgrade to a high mileage conventional? The high mileage full synthetic does exists but cannot be delivered on time and I am not planning on changing the brand just to stay on the safe side if I do swap. Not to say I plan on mixing it right away but in a pinch I’d rather put in something better than before if possible.

use any oil the meets the spec in your owner's manual

I would use a full synthetic oil according to the manufacturers recommendation for that car. I would bought a spare quart of what ever I was planning to use for the next oil change for fill up.
