I replaced a heater hose 6 months ago.That did not solve the leak. I still smell the sweet smell. My temperature gauge was going up and down.I heard a grinding noise.Coolant was refilled. However ill do a pressure check tommorrow. The car has 129k miles.

Since you're hearing grinding, I would zero in on the water pump.
The water pump could definitely be the culprit if there is a grinding. See where the leak is coming from if it is around the ac compressor area where you see it that would lean more towards the water pump. This are a chain driven pump and the weep hole to keep it from leaking into the engine is in that area
