Any easy fix when you hear the VVT rattle on cold start ups? Add some Lucas Oil Stabilizer? Change the oil more often? High milage oil? Thank you guys!
You're going to hear the VVT on those cars as they age. There's no need to start throwing additives at it. No harm is being done.
Thank you Mod_Man! Is there any other normal wear I should I expect? (Transmission fluid has been drained and filled, as I know they can problematic)
Check with Toyota and ask them what they recommend for your 100k miles maintenance(since all cars are a bit different) and try and do those things before you hit 100k miles and you should be good to go.
Not really. The biggest thing is just the noise the VVT makes. Sure it would be awesome if it would stay quiet but it really is just a characteristic of that engine. Just keep up factory recommended maintenance and you'll be fine.
That's just the valves rattling a bit. It's happens as the car ages nothing to worry about.
