2013 Accord v6 Automatic Revs Before Locking into 6th

Hi - I have a 2013 Accord automatic v6 with 145,000 miles and it revs before going into 6th (the top gear) and then when it locks up, it jolts the car.  This can happen under the slightest of acceleration and drives you nuts when it down shifts when cresting a hill. This behavior only happens in the top gear.  The transmission fluid is always changed with real Honda ATF on schedule (drain and fill 3 times).  I took the car to the Honda dealership and they said they couldn't do anything because it wasn't throwing a code.  I then took it to an independent garage and they said the same thing but they tried updating the software for the transmission with no change in the behavior.  They too said without the car throwing a code there wasn't anything that they could do.  Any suggestions?

Maybe your 6th gear is going out or you have other internal transmission issues. You should go to a professional mechanic to check the transmission with an advanced scan tools to tell you exactly what the problem is.

Both the Honda Dealership and the independent mechanic I would consider professionals. Who would you suggest?

Whichever you trust more.

That’s not true. If you have a high level scan tool, you can find out what’s on without any trouble code. Find a professional mechanic.
