Mazda6 vs Acura TLX

Hi Scotty,

I am planning to buy a used car for myself. This will be my first car that i will own as i got a job, until now i used rental cars only. Due to money constraints i am only considering used (max 20k).  I need a car to roam around and have fun with friends, with occasional long drives. I live in Seattle, where it rains quite often (not sure if its is relevant). I am confused in USED Mazda 6 FWD vs Acura TLX AWD. I know these are not comparable, but somewhere i am biased in these two cars. I am not a fan of Toyota, for some reason.

I have heard a few negative reviews about TLX's 9-SPEED AUTOMATIC W/OD Transmissions and Mazda 6 drive and handling experience. Another negative of TLX is it's outdated interior, where as Mazda 6 is good start car but not as tech advanced as TLX.

My must have requirements are Lane keeping system, Adaptive Cruise, Sun/Moon roof and Not too much maintenance over next 5-6 years.

Also can you recommend me any good mechanic near Seattle/Bellevue area ?

Thanks
Deepak

Also, is buying from Carvana or Vroom a good option, or should prefer local certified Dealership ?

Neither should have problems for 5 6 years, the AWD system in the Acura is a big disadvantage. The transmissions are a lot weaker with the AWD and the rear dif's often have issues. Thats why the Mazda. If it was FWD then go Acura by far.

I would go Acura on that one, even though they have some issues with the transmissions. Mazda has improved their quality in recent years, but I would not put them on par with Honda yet, which is who makes Acuras.

Just my opinion.

Try to find a private party, good condition, low miles, Acura TLX (or RLX) that if FWD. That is your best bet to get a good condition car that will last. The dealers are overpriced and, plus, the AWD transmissions are even worse than Mazda's. But the FWD ones are good. Get a FWD unless you really really need AWD. Both are excellent choises.
