Hey Scotty, What's Your Thoughts On A 2013 Chevy Sonic, Mine Has 35000 Miles On It
well you own it so take care of it Dan the greatest made vehicles but if you change the oil a lot and baby it I've got people who want discount cars it could good gas mileage get some mileage out of them before they start to fall apart. Just be sure to maintain it
My friends son has a Sonic with now over 100k with no issues BUT he is MATICULOUS about overall maintenance like ALL fluids, brakes and easy driving.
They are somewhat lower quality vehicles but you should take care of yours and it could last a while.
boy I hope you got the 1.8 N/A.
I have a 2013 1.4t and around 120k miles it melted a valve, did a valve job and a few hundred miles later it blew the piston rings. not to mention the various other problems I've had with crankshaft seals blowing out because the PCV check valve malfunctions and allows boost into the crank case.
PCV valve failed which requires a new valve cover as it's integral
the turbo oil feed tube broke (recall item)
the ignition pack failed which isn't too bad because they're inexpensive to replace
and the turbo failing, oil seal went.
and ALSO the manual transmission failing around 96k miles (bearings).
I would give this car a failing grade on reliability. I will say though, that many of the problems I've had were related to the turbo system. p.s. if the PCV check valve fails it requires a new intake manifold as it's integral. stupid design.
all in all, my vehicle has a mild 126,000 miles on it and is junk.
edit: also worth mentioning, if you have a turbo you gotta use FULL synthetic oil. I learned the hard way on my old saab.
Yeah Mines The 1.8
that's good to see. don't forget about your timing belt. 🙂
