Hi Scotty, my daughter needs to buy a car. A lady at work is selling her mothers 2013 Honda Civic lx with 65,103 miles for 13000.00. We ran a car fax and she was a second owner first owner was a lease. It was made in USA not Japan. No motor accident or major issues. The mother has health issues and can’t drive. What do you think.
Way too much for a 9 year old economy car. Have it checked out by a competent mechanic. Carfax is unreliable.
Unfortunately, this is the market these days and prices will NOT be going back to how they used to be in 2019. It only has 65,000 miles and assuming it was well taken care of by previous owners with excellent service history it should last a long time: if it checks out by a good, independent mechanic I would take it. That model year LX came with the 5-speed manual transmission as standard (with an automatic as an option), which is an added bonus.
first owner was a lease
that's not a good sign.
Have a competent mechanic inspect it.

From Scotty about the reliability of Carfax reports.
But as for the price as daywalker said too in this market this is the price for that car. I would never pay this kind of money for a 9 year old car but this was before this used car market; right now the prices are like this. If well taken care of it's a good car. And being manufactured in the US is not an issue at all; Honda and/or Toyota have been manufacturing a number of their vehicles in US or Canada for a while now.
The prices are outrageous right now. I thought it seemed a lot but they are going around 15 in Massachusetts. Thank you kind sir !
