My sister has a 2013 Fiat 500 Turbo with 65000 miles on it. She is having a problem passing emissions in Connecticut because when she turns the car off it dumps the historical emissions data and clears the codes. When its running all the code are normal and no codes are tripped. The dealer told her she has to replace the computer as did another mechanic. Is there anything else that could cause the problem? If I replaced the computer for her what needs to happen besides just swapping out the unit?
Well it sure sounds like that's the problem but just realize this you will replace the computer it has to be reprogrammed to operate on that car and to make the keys actually let the car start and run which is a gigantic deal. And of course if they were wrong and there's some electrical short somewhere that's doing the same thing it would be a completely wasted large amount of money. Sad to see that you bought one of those clunkers because those are one of the worst cars ever built
