[Solved] 2013 Honda Accord Sport Bad Cat

Hello Scotty Kilmer,

So let me cut to the chase and tell you how it all started. Lo and behold, I goofed... Long story short I had pulled into a parking lot and immediately turned right thinking it was open. Next thing I know I jumped a curb and some grass that wraps around the entryway to divide it from a parking spot. A day later my check engine light comes on and my exhaust is louder than usual. I take it to a nearby auto shop to borrow an OBD2 reader and sure enough I get two codes that read "P2096 & P0420," yup you guessed it Catalytic Converters... My worst nightmare.

Anyways now that I got the explaining out of the way, here's why I'm here.

Simply put getting new catalytic converters for my car is just too expensive and with a baby on the way I feel stuck in the situation due to financial reasons. Is there any temporary or cheaper avenues to fix my obnoxiously loud exhaust and check engine light? Please I try to do all my maintenance on my own car and learn from your videos and other mechanics because it's a very important trade to have these days. I just need to know if there's any possible chance at a solution without spending too much $$$.

Thank you for your time.

You said you have a loud exhaust meaning you have holes. First thing to do is to fix those holes and reset the codes. Odds are that the codes you got is simply because of the holes. Any muffler shop can do the job.
