2013 Honda Civic LX belt tensioner

Hello, we have a 2013 Civic 1.8 129K with a failing belt tensioner. Makes noise when cold but then goes away. I'm pretty good with the tools but I'm very concerned with removal of the pivot 8mm Allen bolt. It would be terrible to get that far into the job and fail to break it loose or worse yet damage the Allen head. Many videos talk about the difficulty of removing it , but all seem to get it out. Any tech's here familiar with this step in the repair process and any removal experience advise please?

Thanks
Tom

  • Just clean the Allen bald hole good with carburetor spray so there's no crud inside so that the tool fits in perfectly

Thank You!
