Should I buy this 2013 Nissan Rogue?

Hey Scotty I’m shopping for a vehicle to use for work. The Nissan dealer is offering me a 2013 Rogue with 100,000kms for $7000. Do you think it’s worth buying?

Is that your only option?

Well I was looking into a 2010 Toyota Matrix 200,000kms for $5500. However I wanted a bit more space and I find the rogue to be more comfortable and cheaper priced than the Rav-4 and Cr-V.

Pass on any Nissan Rogue.  See below:

2013 model year vehicles were pretty much the worst (from what I found online) for the Nissan-Jatco CVTS, especially on the Rogue and the Altima. I would avoid it, but if you're really interested, have the car inspected and definitely have that transmission examined by a professional before you buy it.

2013 was the worst year of the Rogue and you don't wanna spend ur hard-earned 7 grand on a 2013 Nissan Rogue. If that isn't enough watch this video of what a worst-case scenario Jatco CVT failure looks like (its a 2009 but tbh nothing much has changed in its 2008-2013 production run):

I can't see it being any cheaper than a matrix. Factor in that you will likely need a new transmission every 60k or so. I would suggest looking for a rav 4.

Also, has the transmission been changed in it? At 62k miles, it is likely not doing well and is ready to blow any time.

My friend has one of the same series, lost her tranny after a few years.  The reviews on edmunds are terrific for that thing, people really hate them.

Then again, I had a friend that bought one knowing good and well the transmission won't last, she simply likely the way it drove.

Just have the car inspected by someone you trust for neglect and it could last you just fine as a daily driver.. the price is a hair steep but they are not that bad by that year it was the earlier models that were a little sketchier

Definitely NOT from a dealer.
