My wife’s 2013 outback 2.5i will intermittently have flashing “brake”, flashing “AT out temp” and solid traction control lights all come on at once (along with the standard permanent TPMS light - neat feature). They will usually stay on a couple days then disappear for a while (whenever I take it in to run codes). There was a generic transmission code in the history and I’ve heard this could mean I need a new valve body. How do I know short of replacing it? I’ve also heard it can be a simple bad bulb or brake switch. Help me, team.
considerations:
- replaced seized motor about two years ago (wife drove it with no oil…)
- one headlight went out about the same time that I just replaced like a year ago and then the other went out shortly after.
- when the Christmas tree dash is all lit up, the paddle shifters and cruise control does not work.
- battery is good and I’ve disconnected it to try and reset.
You need to scan it the moment the warning lights come on.
Anytime they’re on or right when it happens? Also, I noticed it was half a quart low on oil the other day and they don’t come on now. Maybe related?
when they're on. Top up your oil.
Right-o. Will update if I learn something. ^ I meant the warning lights went away once I topped off the oil, I filled it as soon as I saw it was low.
