I have a 2014 Ford F150, base no frills model that has an intermittent problem (used to be every day now it’s many months between incidents) - I have a problem with the stupid windshield wipers coming on intermittently, usually on dry days. PROBLEM #1
Took it to GreXXway Ford here in Orlando and they charged me $259 to diagnose it just to tell me that they don’t have the part, but they won’t tell me exactly what part that is, that their estimate only lasts 30 days, and that I am free to go to another Ford dealership, but they won’t trust GreXXway’s troubleshooting results, I would have to pay those SOB’s another $259!
I think this probably has something to do with crappy chips from China (CCC) and I did notice there was someone in the waiting room at Ford that had an Escort with electrical issues as well.
Problem #2 —my cd player is broken, and I do occasionally like to use it. I just have a slit in the dashboard of course. Took it to a place and they want to sell me all this extra crap like extra screens and such for the dash. In other words they are telling me to throw out the whole giant section of the dash and then put something else all over. There’s no way to just get the player itself aftermarket is there? Preferably avoiding a Ford dealership???
I remember the old days when your radio/player type device was visible in its entirety and not hidden behind a wall. How to save my dashboard and wallet?
- Truthfully, nobody fixes those CD systems. You just throw away and put in an aftermarket one that will last longer and not give any future problems. As for your other problem, yeah I think there's a bunch of cheap Chinese crap and a lot of that stuff's on backorder. You might ask some local independent mechanics if they have any other place to source parts because of course the dealer only goes through their own system. They won't use anybody else's
