Iv been watching and learning from your videos
And thought I'd try to see if you might be able to help me.
I got a 2014 ford focus that after 2 yrs of having it
It's got a problem that I can't figure out.
It starts fine and idles fine but at random while driving or after a stop (red-light or alike) no check engine light has ever went off before this and still no light.
I'll be barley hitting the gas and with no warning or sound it'll rev up really high but with no Acceleration or power behind it. If I pull my foot off gas for a moment and try again it takes a sec but goes again.
I'm afraid to drive it cus if I'm out at stop or driving it could leave me open to a car from behind me to hit me or if I'm pulling out into traffic it could leave me a target
I took it to one place and they said it's the tyranny
It still has a transmission control module warranty
but when ford looks at it and test drives it they say they believe it's the module but without a check engine light or code (they say they need 1 of 3 codes to do it) they can't replace it.
so I'm at a total lost and still owe another 5000 on this car..
any help would be greatly appreciated
got it at a dealer in 2018 it had 43000 miles on it
It now has over 97304.
As of right now it's still at dealer
Iv gotten another car from inlaws so ill drive the wife's car while she drives there's.
(Ironically hers is exactly same make and model with more miles but hasn't had issues)
Dealer said there slammed but they are having someone drive it least twice a day to get a check engine light/code to do the fix.
Still leaves me without the car I'm paying for.
Got me already soft looking for a new car to eventually try and get.
I like the hatchback types so I'm leaning towards kia soul (possibly risky?)
Honda civic or Toyota just dont know what other things to keep in mind of among those.
Yep take it back to dealer Ford has so they have to fix the transmission or buy the car back deal on those clunkers so make them fix it or buy it back
Idk if it matters but I got the car from a buick dealer (across the street from the Ford dealer it's at now)
Is there some kind of law or rule of thumb I should know like on how long till I do something if they still don't get it fixed after so long?
Example if they have it for x amount of weeks/months if they can't fix it.
Do I try to see if they buy it back at its current value Aka like a trade in or is there some way to get my money bac iv paid on it so far?
I think original price I paid was 14k?
Iv just never had something like this happen before.
This is my 3rd card iv ever had
1st was a forget what yr buick
Wrecked it ins paid its value use that money plus a loan for another used buick 20012 had it forever finally come 2018 had to get new car cus the car was literally about to fall apart Engine wise.
So I'm not used to having big costly issues till after iv long had a car paid off.
Take it back to the dealer. It's obviously not working right check engine light or no and if your afraid to drive it the problem should be easily identifiable. They're just trying to anything they can to not fix it under warranty. If they flat out refuse take it to the best mechanic you can find and have them fix it and send the dealership the bill worst case scenario. Tell them Scotty Kilmer sent you and let us know if they flat out refuse and we'll have Scotty rip em a new one. Just another reason to avoid buying cars from dealerships. They're all smiles when it comes to you paying for the that BS warranty and then all excuses when it's time to pony up for repairs. Get this fixed while you can and never take your car or any car back there ever again.
