I have a 2014 Ford Fusion SE with 43000 miles I purchased last month and I was wondering what the pros and cons are to installing remote start?  Is this a good idea or a bad idea generally?

I would not recommend it. Sometimes aftermarket systems don't work well with the car's factory electronics, especially if it deals with the ignition for remote starting. Many cars come with theft deterrent systems from the factory, so an aftermarket starting system could mess with that and cause more problems than fixes.

How about finding one from the factory on eBay like this and installing it myself?  I know I've read that I would have to take it to a dealer and have them program it to recognize the remote start.
