Hello everyone. I’ve purchased a 2014 RAV4 AWD (120,000 miles) for storm chasing and recently I’ve been having a bad misfire at startup in multiple cylinders for about 5 seconds then it goes away and the car runs perfectly fine afterwards. It’s been at 3 repair shops and all they are doing is clearing the codes and charging me $100 to tell me nothing is wrong with it. I’ve replaced all the spark plugs and swapped the coils to test them but so far no luck. Tried fuel injector cleaner, and next I’m going to clean the Mass airflow sensor to dee if it helps. Anyone have any advice on how to tackle this? At this point I’d be willing to drive down to Tennessee for Scotty to assist.
Thanks!!
It could be so many things, but a common one would be the faulty engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.

Find another shop. I've never been to a shop that charges to pull codes. It's always done as a courtesy. The shop should be making money on repairs (if they know what they're doing). Or just go to Autozone and get it scanned there for free.
