2014 VW Passat 1.8 Wolfsburg
Hello,
Backstory I purchased my passat back in 2018 with approximately 63K miles. I have had very little issues with the vehicle up until recently. The car has been well maintained with normal services thus far. I am now sitting at 94K miles and have had some electrical issues. I live in the Western United States where the temperatures routinely reach 105+. When I have the car parked at outside while I'm at work sometimes I will get in to start the vehicle, everything will start normally but after running the AC on a high or maximum setting the radio head will slowly fade out to black and all electronics to include exterior lighting, blinkers, radio and bluetooth will stop working. The AC will also cut off. Then if I shut the car off and attempt to restart the car will not turn over and no noises can be heard when turning the key. Eventually after 15ish minutes I can get the car to start again. Any ideas?
Well, you might have Volkswagen and their electronic nightmares as they age, especially in the heat. It doesn't get that hot in Deutschland. Now you have to figure out what's wrong. My advice would be have the battery in alternator load tested first and pray one of those is the problem because if not it would be a wiring or computer failure which is a cow to trace down
Thanks Scotty. I have a brand new battery in there currently. We just moved from Las Vegas to a cooler part of the West. So I may just get the alternator tested as you suggest and if it tests good then I'll just deal with it. The car is paid for and I refuse to pay the ridiculous prices for newer vehicles today.
