My vehicle has 122k miles on it. Since the 2015 Camry has a timing chain, would it be a good idea to still replace the water pump when replacing the serpentine/drive belt? Not sure if it makes a difference
Clarification: Which engine?
correct me if I'm wrong, but the water pump is driven by the timing chain, not the serpentine belt.
i just confirmed that its driven by the timing chain. In that case, how hard of a job would it be to replace?
let me put it this way .... it's not something I would do just because I was changing the serpentine belt.
If the engine isn't overheating, the pump isn't leaking, and the timing chain is fine, then leave it alone.
I agree with @mmj.
If you needed to replace the timing chain or timing belt, then go ahead and replace it. It takes like two more seconds on a few our job.
But if your are just replacing the serpentine belt, don’t even bother. You’d be spending more time removing stuff to access the timing chain or timing belt belt, then just changing out the serpentine belt.

That's correct, by example. The internet is replete with this kind of disinformation.
