Scotty I wish I had know about your YouTube before i bought my Silverado. I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado with 53000 miles purchased used in 2016. I have the 5.3 L with the AFM and the 8 speed transmission. I am planning on changing the trans fluid this spring and use Mobile 1 for the engine all 8 quarts. Is there any way to electronically bypass the AFM. Also anything else i can do to keep this truck running. It is paid for. I keep cars for 10 to 12 years. Any help would be great. Thanks
There are some OBD-II software gadgets that claim to eliminate the AFM system.
I do AFM deletes all the time but only the full, correct way. Replace the 16 lifters with non-AFM lifters and the camshaft with a non-AFM camshaft. Retune the computer for the new parts.
Runs about $3000 start to finish.
For the electronic bypass, I recommend using the AFM disabler from Range Technology: Your model truck is supported

I would buy from them direct to get the most recent firmware. These also won’t drain your battery which other AFM disablers can.
All we did was disable via software, but to truly get rid of AFM for good (you also want to remove the hardware which is still prone to failure), you have to have a shop delete it like Mod Man mentions. Make sure you use a shop that has done plenty of these before.
But if you don’t want to spend the $3,000 or so, you can use that disabler above - still better than nothing.
