My friend has a 2015 GMC Terrain and the key is stuck in the ignition. The car starts and drives fine but when you shut it off the key will not come out. The steering wheel will not lock as well.

It turns in what seems like the off position
there should be 4 positions, as described in your owner's manual. Usually the positions are marked on the ignition switch itself.
From owner's manual:
If charging or jump starting the battery does not work, locate the hole below the ignition lock. Insert a flat bladed tool or another key from the key chain into the opening. When the lever can be felt, actuate the lever toward the driver, and remove the key from the ignition.
The ignition switch has worn out, or broken, and needs replacement.
