My 2015 Honda Civic has the CVT transmission but my VIN is not in the recall list. 63,000 miles and about to do first oil and filter change. Will that help the life of this reject transmission? Can I still get the software update anyway? Or will that screw things up more? So far no problems with it yet. I need some good advice please.
What does your owner’s manual recommend regarding CVT transmission maintenance? Does it have the standard Honda response of have it checked by your dealer for maintenance?
If it does, yeah I’d change it (drain & fill) using only the Honda CVT fluid mentioned in your owner’s manual.
I wouldn't get the software update if Honda doesn’t recommend it. You never know what it may do, and I wouldn’t want to risk it ruining a perfectly functioning transmission.
Yes, change the fluid. It is not lifetime. If your transmission is not being recalled, that means Honda feels the software is fine.
After you get the fluid changed make sure from now on you stay on top of the transmission fluid change intervals to get the most life out of the transmission.

Quite honestly, moving forward change it every 40k, once they go bad there’s no fixing them.
