Hi Scotty, my wife’s car (2015 Lexus 350IS) hasn’t been moved for 7 months (as she’s working overseas)  and the tank is half full. Is that ok to drive it as it is or it needs some kind of additives to offset the gasoline quality? I don’t want to mess up the engine. What should I do? Thank you

Best thing to do would be to drain and refill the tank.  Barring that, I would add some Sta-Bil, fill the tank with fresh gas and hope for the best.  If it were my car, I would change the oil, filter and get a new pcv valve as well.

I will definitely drain and refill the tank. The PSV valve has been ordered along with the fuel stabilizer. Thanks for your feedback

7 months is not terrible, as @doc mentioned, I would go ahead and toss some sta bil, get the fuel drained if you can.

If you can't drain it, I would put some good fuel system cleaner in it, like royal purple or red line. Drain it a quarter tank or so from full, fill it back up. Then drop it to a half tank and fill it back up, then maybe the next time drain it pretty low. That will slowly get the old gas out, rather than pushing all the nasty through at once. That is my paranoid way of doing it anyway.

Keep tossing in some fuel cleaner on each tank, once you get done, it may be a good idea to change the fuel filter. If you are able to get the gas drained, it may not be so bad.

Ok thanks for your feedback
