I just had a winter tire change over done and the shop mentioned that I have uneven brake wear. It's off by 1mm on each front side. What causes this? It's a low mileage car for it's age.

Much minutes do that that's not that much difference they aren't that well built cars and brake pads will often wear an evenly on them

One millimeter is just under 4/100 of an inch (.03937). I think the shop is trying to get some more money out of your pocket.
