[Solved] Burning smell?

Hello, recently bought an awd toyota matrix 2003, it has 103k miles, no codes, but it gives a burning smell, more towards the left side of the motor(not the side of the battery). Not sure what exactly this is? The car has not been used much by the previous owner, probably 1k miles put on in 3 years. I recently changed the spark plugs, PVC valve, and engine oil. Any hints please let me know, thanks

Well, the car is 18 years old. Maybe an oil leak from the valve cover gasket dripping onto the exhaust manifold?

Chuck is probably right on this.  If we assume that it has not been changed, well, after 18 years, I'd be surprised if the valve cover gasket was anything but hard-as-a-rock and leaking oil (that's immediately burnt). It's no big deal to get to it, and take a look. See here:

Thank you guys, yes I was thinking that could be the problem, I'll try to check it out see if I see anything odd
