Hello, I'm in the market for a fun sporty car that I can modify and make my "own" currently I'm looking at 2002-2008 Subaru WRX wagons and sedans as it's a car I've always wanted. I know some of the common issues like rust in the rear quarters, head gaskets, and fragile transmissions, but I was wondering if anyone has more information on these cars. Thank you for reading!!
The WRX has been discussed before. Really the biggest problem is they tend to be thrashed half to death (or worse) by young lead-footed owners hooning them around. You're talking about cars that have potentially been badly abused for 13-19 years. Have a mechanic check out any candidates carefully.
Curiously there was a version sold as the Saab 9-2X for 2005-2006, commonly known as the "Saabaru". Aside from a few tweaks it was really all Subaru.
