Greetings Scotty, My wife has a 2015 SmartCar ED (full electric car) .
I was just watching one of your video clips on electric SmartCars and thought you could help.
The car fully functions perfect as it should , but the time came to replace the 12V battery .
Battery changeout was successful , without issues , and the car continues to charge and drive exactly like it should , with the standard 60mi to a full charge .
However I now have a dash prompt : " HV SYSTEM WORKSHOP" .
Do you have a scanner that will remove that dash prompt , and if so , please contact me at your earliest convenience to bring the car by for service ... I'm in League City .
Thanks and best regards,
Mark
"HV SYSTEM WORKSHOP"
sounds like it wants you to bring it to a shop for the High Voltage system.
I doubt anybody but Mercedes will know how to work on your car.
I've been reading a few forums which suggest some Bi-directional scanners are able to close the prompt , but I'm not proficient with these tools , plus some are expensive .
I'm hoping a Houston based Smart ED enthusiast will chime in and possibly offer to make an appointment for me .
good luck. I think you will be waiting a very long time.
The prompt will go away when the underlying problem gets fixed.

It looks like "League City" is in Texas not far from Houston? I'm afraid you're a little late. Scotty moved out of Texas years ago. His primary residence is in Tennessee and he also spends part of the year at a 2nd home in Rhode Island.
No one from here will contact you. There are instructions in the FAQ for making an appointment, but since Scotty is no longer in your area it's a moot point.
Thanks Chuck , I found this out right after I pushed the send button ... bad timing on my part .
If you know of any electric Smartcar mechanics in the Houston area , I'd appreciate hearing about them , thanks .
There some Houston area mechanic referrals in the FAQ, you can check with them to see if they work on those cars. Chances are are though as @imperator said you'll need to go to a dealer.
