Hey Scotty. I have a 2015 Hyundai Sonata with 73k miles. The brakes are all original but now my pads are down to about 10%. I get no vibrations when applying the brake, no squealing yet and the rotors don't have any deep groves. The question is, would you suggest I do a brake job using quality Akabono pads and leave the rotors alone. Not machining or replacing.
Yes.
If you aren’t showing any symptoms of warped rotors, why replace them?
If you’ve never changed the brake fluid, now would also be a good time to have it flushed & the brakes bled.
Ok, good! I believe the brake fluid bleeding is something I need to take into a mechanic, so they can use their high level scan tool because of the anti lock valving system. Is that right for my Sonata?
Correct. Find an honest independent mechanic who has the right tools to accomplish that procedure (since your car has ABS). All the best.
