2016 Acura TLX 3.5 V6 Front wheel drive
140k miles
Every once in a while, right after I shift into drive, the car will stop abruptly and I hear a whining noise. If I shift it into neutral and then back into drive, everything works fine again. It only happens maybe once every month. It almost feels like it’s not fully shifting into drive, but I’m not sure. Does anyone know what might cause this? There's no warning lights or codes. Transmission fluid has just been replaced 20k miles ago in November 2024 by the Acura dealer.
the car will stop
Please clarify...
the car takes off and then stops accelerating? or,
the engine stalls? ...
@imperator The engine doesn't stall but the vehicle starts to move at first but it like slams to a stop and that is when the noise starts.
unfortunately that sounds like a transmission malfunction.
@imperator Software or hardware related?
unless your software has changed then hardware
