2016 Chev Volt

I have solar panels and charge my volt free for most of my local miles. Because it also has a gas engine I can jump in drive across country. Great car and great idea from Chev!

Why are they stopping production after 2020? That seems crazy to me. Is there a problem with the car I don't know about?

Volt has dismal sales and have had problems..check out this site for those problems:

Chevy feels the BOLT is a better successor but sales are not as expected.

Moe than likely the 2021 Toyota EV Solid state battery cars will further erode other Hybrid and EV manufacturers.

Further note: When the Volt was proposed its design really excited the general public..it was a stylish futuristic machine but it was a Cruze clone in production.

GM (as always) pulled back too much when it should have gone almost all the way.  Thats my opinion.

Easy. If an American is not buying something, they won't sell it. The Ford Fusion was a decent enough car but production stopped. The Toyota Yaris, well no one bought it, so they just rebadged a Mazda 2 and sold it as a Toyota.
