2016 Honda Metropolitan

Hello, I have not posted in a long time. I know I am asking about a Moped and not a Car, but I am hoping to get some help.

I recently bought a 2016 Honda Metropolitan. It had about 700 miles when I bought it. I have had it for about 2 weeks. I changed the oil and coolant as a preventative measure as I prepare to winterize it. It now has about 860 miles. There are no mechanical issues, and it purrs like a kitten.

Here is my question: How many miles can I expect it to last? I know it's a good scooter. It's a Honda. I originally bought it to help me commute to college in the spring and summer months, but now that I have read that 10,000 miles is considered high mileage, I am getting apprehensive about doing so. I live about 15 miles away from my college and I am in a rural area. I want to know, are my fears about driving it this extended distance and putting too many miles on it warranted?

I also want to add that this is my first vehicle. I probably will not have a car until I get out of college. Plus, I want to TRY to keep this Moped for at least five years if not longer. I am hoping to get lots of use out of it, as cars are just too expensive, especially with Michigan being a No-Fault state.

My guess is that you will wear out on daily 30 mile trips sooner than the Honda. You will wear out drive belts and tires, but the engine is hard to kill - a large proportion of transportation in 3rd world countries is on 50cc Hondas.

What's the speed limit on these roads?  The Honda will not handle more than about 40  maybe 45 mph, especially if there are hills. 5 mile trips around town are the sweet spot for that kind of bike.
