2016 jeep renegade
Hey Scotty, I saw a video on YouTube saying that Chrysler states that we do not have to change our transmission fluid in these vehicles. It’s a nine speed and it is a 2.4 and automatic and I’m just wondering because my last car I did not change my fluid and the torque converter ended up Getting all messed up and cost us $4000 and then a year later I totaled it so I’m just trying to avoid the same situation. I did no research before getting this car and I regret that thank you

Of course, you need to change the transmission fluid if you want it to last. Chrysler conveniently skipped installing a dipstick to further that myth and save pennies at the same time. They get every bit as dirty as old transmissions did. Renegades are also Fiat-produced and have nothing to do with Jeep. Fiat bought Chrysler out of bankruptcy and they themselves went bankrupt. It's known as Stellantis now, which is owned by Peugeot. Scotty loves to call them the Three Stooges of automotive manufacturing.
