Hey Scotty BIG fan!
I just bought 2016 3 door Vitara and it is terrible with gas under 19 mpg. At 75 MPH it reves over 3000 rpm. it does not seem to shift between gears smoothly.
it has 2.4L 4 cylinder engine with a mileage just around 23k " previous owner said it's been parked almost always"
the car is in a perfect shape "almost like new" and no warning light is ON!
What could be the reason?
Did you have a trusted mechanic inspect the condition of the vehicle before you purchased it?
If not, since you’ve already bought it, get a FULL service done and change all the fluids, filters & spark plugs.
The Vitara isn’t very aerodynamic so don’t expect spectacular mpg.
The transmission also seems its not in the best of shape.
Next time, when you buy a car, don’t go just by the looks & physical appearance of the vehicle as looks are often deceiving.
Maybe your best bet is to sell the car and buy a Toyota or Honda.
Suzuki is not a good car manufacturer although its motorcycles are excellent.
