Hi Scotty, I went to a mechanic for the engine light being on. He explained my TDI needs to have freeway driving to clean out the air filter as it does not get cleaned out with regular city driving. I went on a long trip and the engine light went off, so I though all was good. A month later, the same engine light came on so I took another long drive, and it cleared the light again. Now for a third time, the engine light came on. Is there something else I need to do to get the engine light from coming back on? Appreciate whatever expertise you can offer me.
It might help if you would divulge what code or codes triggered the check engine light.
