Looking at purchasing a 17 F150 4x4 with 171+ miles. It’s been serviced regularly and just had one turbo replaced. What’s your opinion on these
Not to fond of the turbocharged I'd much rather get a V8
just had one turbo replaced.
If it has twin turbos the 2nd one is probably not far behind.
171+ miles? What mileage do you really mean? For that generation F-150, I would only stick with model years 2015-2017 with the naturally aspirated V8. Don’t bother with the Ecoboost engine esp. if you plan to keep until the wheels fall off.
If it's a 2.7L V6, forget about it. That engine is smaller than my 3.0L V6 in my Ford Ranger, and it's in a full size truck, not a compact. The turbocharger is the only thing saving it from being a massive dog. Even with the 3.5L EcoBoost V6, the only thing that's saving it is the turbocharger. Without it, they're dogs. The 5.0 is the only solution if you want it to last a little longer. The other problem is those trucks have the disastrous GM-Ford 10-speed automatic. They've had recalls because of transmission issues.
