Hi Scotty. My 2017 Ford Escape Titanium FWD seems to be making a pesky grinding like noise after 4 months of having the SUV. I bought it with 48,000 miles, and now has 60,000 miles on it. I've taken it to a mechanic, and was told that the lower control arms were worn and needed to be replaced. Before the repair, there wasn't any grinding noise, but the car would pull to one side, with some play in the steering wheel, and hit bumps hard. After the repair, the car drove better, however, there was a loud grinding noise after, especially when making turns. I've taken the car back and was told the noise was due to the brake dust shields. However, after that had been dealt with, there is still noise coming from the front of the car. It's easy to hear on smooth road, and high speeds. I haven't taken it back to a mechanic yet, and I don't think it could be the tires as I've had new ones put on a month after getting the car due noise from the back wheels. What do you think the problem really is? One other thing, a few weeks after getting new tires, but before replacing the control arms, I've gotten an inexplicable flat tire in the front driver tire that I've gotten repaired, if that helps any.
Does the grinding happen while you are turning the wheel only? If so it is possibly a tie rod or something like that. Original guess was ball joints but you said you replaced the whole control arm so I'm thinking tie rod.

The grinding was reduced alot after taking it back, when I was told it was the brake dust shields. The grinding, or maybe vibrating sound, is now constant, but not as loud. Going straight and at higher speeds is when it's most noticeable.
Possible wheel bearing. Can be as simple as someone overtightening the lug nuts to make one go bad suddenly. The higher the speed the louder it gets.
