I found a used 2017 Honda Civic Sedan, Automatic transmission, odo 94,000 Km, NOT from a dealership
The car was in very good condition, So I took it to a mechanic for further checking.
The result showed an error code related to air conditioning
Code: B12D3
Description: AC
I don't know where is the problem.. I tested the car before taking it to the mechanic and the climate control worked fine except for some noise when it starts.
I just want to know if that code is related to a big AC issue (e.g. compressor needs to be replaced) or if it is a minor issue (clutch, belts, etc...)
Thank you
It isn't the A/C.
The code is related to the Smart Start One Push (keyless) Start system.
B12D3
Power control unit (body control module) IG latch circuit error
Internal error.
The code is reporting an internal fault in the BCM. (Body Control Module).
It's more than just an annoyance. Symptoms to expect:
Honda won't turn on.
Honda won't turn off.
Honda will turn off while driving.
Honda turns to "Power Mode ON" by itself and drains the battery dead
The Service Manual procedure is:
- Clear the code
- Turn the car off and on five times
- If the code resets, REPLACE the BCM (body control module)
Power control unit (body control module) IG latch circuit error
The car started normally and the engine stopped normally when I tested it and when we got it to the mechanic. I googled it [The code] and found the description you mentioned earlier.
I'm suspecting that the mechanic provided me with the wrong code (I asked the owner, he said that there is an issue with the compressor's clutch set...He claimed that it is a minor issue so he didn't fix it)
