Hey Scotty...
Found your channel not that long ago and really loving the videos and information. Thanks for all the work.
I recently purchased a 2017 Jetta Wolfsburg Edition with a 5 speed manual and the 1.4 turbo tsi engine (CZTA).
I just like the VWs even though they can be a bit costlier to maintain.
It has about 100K KM (62K miles) on it at the moment and I don't really know the history other than that it is an off lease vehicle, so I assume all the services were done correctly.
The owner’s manual doesn't even mention any maintenance for the manual transmission or the timing belt, but online I found a 2017 VW Jetta maintenance schedule for USA 1.4T engine and it suggest to check the timing belt at 150K miles and doesn't mention the manual transmission either.
What would you suggest as the service interval for the timing belt and the transmission oil?
Thanks, Radek from Canada.
Change the manual transmission fluid with the one that’s recommended in your owner’s manual, if the present fluid is dirty.
For the timing belt, call up your VW dealer with your VIN, and ask them for the inspection/change interval in Canada.
Scotty made a video about that engine. Its interference with a rubber timing belt so you definitely do not want it to snap. He said no more than 100k miles but you would still want to do some other research.
Good luck!
