No crank

Truck turns on but doesn't start, doesn't crank at all. The only difference from normal is the brake peddle is solid and wont push down when you try to step on the brake and push the start button. Tried jumping with another car, also nothing. Every thing else works, lights, windows radio ect. Truck has 31,000 miles and never had any running or starting issues. Its also in the 60 degree range for weather. One light on the dash comes on for a 1/2 second and says to service the charging system but quickly goes away. Does this mean the battery just doesn't have enough juice to start the car ? Is it not like the older cars where it would just click away because the battery is weak or dead, but vehicle this does nothing, no noises or anything, just wont start.

Please Help,

thank you,
