Hey Scotty, I have a 2018 Mazda 6 Touring with 75k miles. I’m planning on changing the automatic transmission fluid but, I was wondering if I can use another compatible brand brand beside the factory one… also which brand would you recommend?Thanks for your help I’m a big fan of the channel!
It's not like the old days when relatively simple 2 or 3 speed automatics were prevalent and we had "Type F" fluid for Ford and "Type A Suffix A" for GM and most everything else. Modern automatic transmissions are finicky beasts that require precise fluid formulation for proper operation and there are many different fluids. Using OEM is cheap insurance.
I would play it safe and just use oem.
Stick with OEM to be on the safe side. And if you plan on having your mechanic change it for you, you can just buy the OEM fluid and have them use it.
