Hi Scotty, wanted to get your input on getting a used ES or RX.
Im up in Canada in Vancouver, we are a family of 3 (for now) and need to upgrade my 2007 Camry.

the 2018 RX is an F sport with 92000 KMS listed for 41000 Canadian $

the 2019 ES is also an F sport with 28000 KMS for 38000 Canadian $.

which one would hold its value better? Up in Vancouver it does not snow much and we could be okay with a sedan. The used car market especially for SUV’s I feel is a little inflated. I’m worried that by buying an RX it’s got much higher mileage and would obviously consume more fuel too. But I plan on keeping these cars for the next 5-8 years. Your input / insight would be very very helpful.

thank you!

Don’t get an SUV if you don’t need it, since like you mentioned, they cost more than an equivalent sedan.

For the ones you’re looking at, I’d get the 28,000 km run ES.

As usual, don’t forget to have it thoroughly inspected by a professional mechanic, before purchase. You don’t want to get stuck with a wrecked or flooded vehicle.

All the best!

PS. What’s wrong with your Camry? For a family of 3, it theoretically should be sufficient. I doubt either of the vehicles you’re considering will be a substantial upgrade in space or comfort.

Listen to @InThrustWeTrust.

Keep the Camry if it runs fine.
