Thanks for providing this forum to ask this question. I previously posted about this a couple of months ago and tried a few fixes, but nothing has worked so far, and frankly I’m ready to give up on this car.
My car shakes badly in the front when it goes above 40-45 mph and gets worse over time as I keep driving. It goes away once I go below ~30 mph. The shaking sounds and feels like a warping, a bit like a coin being spun on a table as it’s slowing down and getting ready to land on its side - or like a helicopter-ish sound. More recently, the sensation comes right through to the steering wheel and right behind the speedometer, where a jingling-like sound comes through, like loose rings or coins.
it started a year ago (I’ve owned the car for 9 years - it was previously very reliable before all this), and since then, the following has been done. The problem would go away for a while, but then come back worse:
- Front brake calipers & rotors & hoses replaced
- tires rotated several times
- alignment performed
- right hub wheel bearing replaced
- other suspension components inspected, no problems detected
- no apparent problems with tires - they are 6 years old but look ok in terms of tread and wear
i am wondering if it could be a problem somewhere under the hood (engine or transmission). The car makes a sharp, rough popcorn-ish sound after it’s started, when it first moves after shifting into drive, especially if it hasn’t been started for at least a day. I didn’t think it was anything to be concerned about, but folks who’ve heard the sound say it sounds strange, and it does seem to be a recent thing.
Thanks - Any insight that anyone has is greatly appreciated!
Well definitely check the axles of the axles are bent or worn that will make it shake at higher speeds if it's not something obvious like that rim out of balance tire bad front end alignment
Thanks for your reply! Having my TSX checked yet again later this week. Hoping for some resolution.
