Hi,
The manual calls for genuine toyota 75W LF or equivalent. This oem oil is expensive. My question is, is it okay to use 75w90 gear oil as alternative? Im not sure if straight weight 75W is equivalent with 75W90. Thank you!

Don't use the 75W90 in your Gen 3 Tacoma transfer case.
You have two very good and inexpensive oils to choose from. Both are available on Amazon.
Red Line MT-LV 70W/75W and Ravenol MTF-3 75W are your choices. Gen 3 Tacoma owners report good results with either oil. My personal choice is Red Line.
I have a 2017 TRD Off-Road 4X4.
