I've got a 2009 Acura TSX with 148k miles. It's burning about a quart of oil every 1000 miles. Is this something that's worth fixing or should I just keep topping it off in between oil changes?
I only paid 6,000 for the car and I'm wondering if it's worth investing that much into.
Get rid of it, the car isn't going to last you long. Yes its an Acura but a car burning that much oil does mean the engine isn't living its best life. You can live with it buy topping it up once in a while though but once again, the car shouldn't be burning that much oil.
Cheers,
if it burns oil then its a junker for sure and 6000k for something that burns oil is sooo badd. that usually means the oil is getting out some what either threw the exaust or the floor. check for leaks and get it fixed or your piston rings are leaking and letting oil in the cylinders.

Thanks for the quick reply, I appreciate it.
I took it to an Acura speciality shop and they told me it was an extremely common with this generation of TSX. They didn't tell me there were any leaks. They told me not to worry about it and just keep putting oil in between changes. I just wanted to hear some outside opinions about the issue.
getting leaks fixed usually isnt too expensive unless its the piston rings check for smoke out of the exhaust and that should tell you.
Hey there! Fred from Quebec canada. I also bought a 2009 tsx a few months ago at 145k kilometers. First and only owner was an old lady which maintained the car let's say, so far so good. I've put a S.r.i, drove it a but dumb and almost ran out of oil after 3k km. Car is on ramps since a few days and amma clean it up and try to diagnose for potential seal leaks. Oil consumption is good since I drive it slow ; 1k km since last mineral oil change 5w20 Castrol. Any advice and thoughts? Thanks fred
