Should I buy a 2019-2020 Toyota Corolla LE/SE?

Hi Scotty, I’m a longtime follower from your Houston days. I’m looking to buy a reliable used car for around 16k and looking at Corollas with the CVT transmission. Just how reliable are these transmissions? Can I reasonably expect to get 200k miles? I want to avoid any potential money pits. And what’s your thoughts on the 2019-2020 Honda HRV. If there’s another vehicle within this price point you recommend, I’d appreciate the feedback. Thanks, DJ

Yeah they're good cars; if you plan to keep it long enough try to find something lower mileage. Like with any used car have a trusted independent mechanic check it out and make sure you keep on top with maintenance such as oil and filter change. Toyota is pretty good with CVT so if you do maintain it well it will be trouble free for a good time.
