Hey Scotty,
I have a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500LD with the older 5.3L V8 and 6speed transmission. I've had the truck for 13 months now and have 103,000 miles on it.
When is a good time to change the coolant and brake fluid. I still have the stock pads and rotors. Never done a coolant flush and only done regular maintenance with 2 fluid changes on diff and trans due to heavy everything towing. Engine burns half a quart every 20,000 miles. I use AMSoil.
Coolant change now. Brake fluid should be fine IF no moisture has gotten in. Doesn't sound like it. With a lot of heavy towing... I'd half reg maintenance suggested and with the miles you put on it... check/inspect frequently.
And trans fluid and filter changes at least every 50k.
Thank you @HillBilly just checking because coolant hasn't changed to any different color and I change the trans filter and fluid every 45k miles.
Your probably good but cheap to replace/do and you could check/trend hydrometer reading...but a waste of time. I think reliability and longevity are high priorities for you so the best way to do this is insure freq maintenance especially under your operating conditions.
Look in your manual. It should say the cooling system should be serviced after 150,000mi or 5 years, whichever comes first. So you should be good for now.
The interval for brake fluid is the same as coolant.
Transmission fluid "severe" interval is 45,000 mi.
(but double check YOUR manual)
@mountainmanjoe your right I checked and it says 150k. Ill probably just replace it on my next cross country trip to FL and back to CA
