2019 ford transit 350 xlt

Bought it used... when putting it in reverse the steering wheel is hard to turn. If I wait 3 to 5 seconds it acts normal. What is going on with this thing... it has 32k miles on it 3.7l v6 engine... thanks in advance

It seems that there is an issue with the power steering pump function at low engine speeds. If you rev the engine while in reverse, does it resolve the issue?

So the power steering pump is weak. Ask a mechanic to check it. Maybe he can fix it and you do not need to buy a new pump.

I thought that the 2019 Ford Transit had electric power steering?

@billybob 2019 MY still offered the conventional power-assisted rack and pinion steering, whereas for 2020 MY they switched over to electric power-assisted steering (EPAS).
