Hi Scotty. This is Vinny from Ballston Lake NY. I have a question about my 2019 Honda Ridgeline. It has a little over 100,000 miles and it calls for the timing belt service at 105,000. I'm religious about my maintenance but got 2 quotes from 2 different Honda dealerships- one was 2500 and one 2600. Seems outrageously expensive.
The other issue is on Honda online forums 90 percent of the people who had timing belt failures, had them AFTER the original was replaced. Many said they drove upwards of 150,000 miles and beyond with the original belts and they looked practically new still. If I spend 2500 for this service, the last thing I want is to risk having it fail. What should I do??
Dealers are the most expensive place for service and may not even be competent. Look for a good independent mechanic who will give you a quote on doing the job using an OEM Honda timing belt.
Lose the dealers.
